HLR lookup

A query to a mobile carrier's Home Location Register confirming whether a phone number is live and which operator serves it.

The Home Location Register (HLR) is the central subscriber database every GSM/mobile network maintains. An HLR lookup queries it in real time to determine whether a MSISDN (phone number) is assigned and active, its current carrier and country, and its ported status — without placing a call or sending an SMS.

For lead quality this separates reachable numbers from disconnected, unassigned or invalid ones. A dead or freshly-minted number rarely converts, and call-centre-driven verticals (nutra, finance) depend on numbers an operator can actually reach.

In d0pe the HLR result feeds the phone-validity checker inside the Mask, flagging invalid numbers before a lead is delivered.
